To run to the forest Storm Chaser is really all you need, and pray that you don't get ridiculously bad spawns, especially at that chokepoint with the 2 shadow ele/mes and then the group after, sometimes they spawn too close to the chokepoint and I end up being burned and in deep freeze then soon after death.
Dodge won't even save you from that. Just drop it and bring dual to take down the sheperds/woods faster or distracting to have an easier time with spiders if you don't have a half moon/short bow.

thats not the only bad spam you can have... spiders are bad too and if you got no attak evading/runing thery might shoot you to death with their poison cuz u need to do trall enguent which take time, and you need to be in safe spot. dodge helps avoiding their arrows, and sometimes the warms (if they start attaking)
now dual shot is pretty useless cuz the whole build is based on hit and run poison degenaration + kindle arrows to damage, and did you notice savage shot in what i posted? with fast recharge and energy from manta of lightning its more then enouth

dual shot (w/kindle) does ~80 to spirit woods...
and around 65 to shepherds.

well... three things... it's called "Troll Unguent" ... and Dodge shouldn't really help you that much against the spiders as all they do is pretty much spam Called Shot... which can't be evaded... and unless ANeT fixed them the Wurms are bugged atm... they don't attack when your within Recurve bow range

Fighting the worms when they attack is very easy in any case. Dont need dodge for that, mantra of lightning and occasional troll unguent and you're sorted.

This all sounds very interesting. I've been running my ranger for quite some time now and have yet to attempt any FoW or UW soloing with any character. I am a little tentative to spend large sums on potential or certain (at this point) death for little to no rewards.
After understanding the builds and knowing the general layout and attacks of each monster over time I wouldn't mind trying this. However I would like to shadow someone who is competent at this for a couple runs. I think it would be an enjoyable learning experience for me and, if need be, I would fund the entry fee for the solo'er.
I find it hard enough getting into a group at FoW regardless of experience as a ranger. To learn not only how to solo some of it firsthand but to get to know some of the better PvE rangers out there would be a welcome experience.

yes trall enguent is great, but using dodge helps me more then duo shot, cuz again, the idea is to degen to death, not do mass damage. spiders dont always do called shot, and with dodge, these are the almost the ONLY shots i get from them, and i run fast enouth to go to safe place or do trall enguent.
but hey! if you like duo shot use duo shot... fine with me, cuz i'll be using whatever i feel better with

dual shot is better for me cause dodege doesnt hel muc..use physical res and trol ungeunt and its all great.....when i fight spiders i usualy put kindle trol and themn poison +savage that distracts his apply poison and then next dual shot that distract his healing spring and he is half health then...then just wait apply poison again....and distrupt and if u failt to distrupt healing spring just take few steps back and he will move out of healing spring range

o just to inform you...if ur really stressed about skill slots...drop both dodge and storm chaser and hitch a ride with a chest run group...they always stop at forest...and the use charge and shields up...all u gotta do is use them as meat shields...
Ahem...sry all u warriors ive been with and then see "_____drops for silent elvin ranger"...thats how i roll =p

Check the topic about soloing the shadow army with a R/Mo
Soloing skelies should be doable as well - *hint* Judge's insight + skelislaying grip = 180 damage on an impaler or a spell caster. Add barrage and a zealous string for the energy needed to maintain JI and you should be pretty good
